"While we never wanted to use this service, it was the exact lifeline that both he and I desperately needed. If we can pass that on to others and spare trips to the ER — I know we will be honoring everything Brian stood for." — Cindy Hricik, Widow of Alexandria Fire Dept. Deputy Chief Brian R. Hricik ❤️
Responder Care™ was born from a simple question: what if we could help a sick First Responder avoid even one unnecessary Emergency Room visit? In honor of Alexandria Fire Department Deputy Chief Brian R. Hricik — who inspired this program before losing his battle with cancer in 2023 — we’ve built a private EMS infrastructure where fellow Responders care for their own. No cost. No barriers. Just help when it’s needed most.
Public and private EMS clinicians deserve the same care they give others. We serve our own.
Local, state, and federal law enforcement officers and their families can access private EMS and MIH care when they need it most.
Career and volunteer firefighters and rescue technicians — on and off duty — are eligible for Responder Care™ services.
Emergency Communications personnel are First Responders too. We’re here for you.
Emergency planners, support staff, and administrators who serve our communities are part of our mission too.
The families of First Responders bear an invisible burden. Responder Care™ extends care to immediate family members.
Responder Care™ delivers free EMS, Mobile Integrated Healthcare, and Community Paramedicine to first responders and their families — funded entirely by private donors. Every dollar goes directly to the people who protect us. Fiscal sponsorship by Global Impact, a 501(c)(3).
